Dear Earth Hour supporters,
Thank you for your support to Earth Hour in the past years. Your participation has made Earth Hour the biggest ever voluntary environmental action. This year, it will be the third consecutive year for Hong Kong joining the global lights out event on March 26(Sat) at 8:30pm. We cordially invite you to join us again, which will definitely help us achieve this year's target of 2.5 million participants in Hong Kong.

Why do we have to get involved? Because this is about our future! |
According to WWF-Hong Kong's newly released "Hong Kong Ecological Footprint Report 2010", Hong Kong people are living beyond the Earth's limits–2.2 Earths are needed if everyone lived the lifestyle of Hong Kong people. Hong Kong's footprint is larger than that of the global average of 1.5. But we only have ONE Earth.
Therefore, the theme for Earth Hour 2011 is "Go Beyond the Hour, Consume Wisely". We call on the individuals, businesses and governments to take further steps by pledging to sustain their actions beyond the hour.

Earth Hour 2011 photo competition |
A special Earth Hour online mosaic activity for the public will be launched after the 3.26 event. People can upload their pictures on their ways to support Earth Hour in this unique online photo sharing platform. The symbolic meaning behind this activity is a metaphor for the collective efforts contributed by the global community towards rebuilding a ‘living planet'.
Now we are holding the Earth Hour 2011's photo competition to select the work to become the mosaic base photo. For details, please click here.
The winner will also be invited to bring along three friends to visit WWF-Hong Kong's Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre, Asia's first classroom on the sea, and join a glass-bottomed boat trip to get a close-up view of the local marine life. Grab you camera and start shooting now!
The online photo sharing platform is sponsored by Canon Hongkong Company Limited. |
