Earth Hour 2012 is live! Sign up and support now!

Thank you for supporting Earth Hour — your participation is what makes this event the world's largest voluntary environmental action. This year, Hong Kong will join Earth Hour for the fourth consecutive year. On 31 March at 8:30pm, we invite you to join hands with people all around the world by switching off your lights and giving your support to a sustainable future.

One of the easiest ways to support Earth Hour is to make an online pledge. With just a few simple clicks, you will demonstrate your commitment to living a sustainable lifestyle. You will also receive regular Earth Hour enews updates, including the latest activities and tips on setting your personal energy saving target.

We also invite you to "like" Earth Hour's Facebook page. By joining our community, not only can you interact with other Earth Hour supporters and share your favourite energy saving tips with them, you can also organise celebrations and activities that will make the Earth Hour evening even more fun!

Set your personal energy saving target

There is more to Earth Hour than switching off the lights. This year WWF is encouraging every individual go beyond the hour and set their personal energy saving target.

As you know, the resources of our planet are limited but our demand for them keeps rising. To avoid a natural resource and climate crisis, we need to act now to save energy: all of us. From entertainment to transportation, from cooking to bathing, there is a lot of room to save energy in our daily habits - and many of these improvements are a piece of cake! All we need is just a bit of determination; and setting a personal energy saving target is a good place to start.

Achieve your energy saving target by:
  • Choosing energy-efficient appliances when making new purchases
  • Saving hot water by taking short showers instead of having long baths
  • Installing dimmable lights or diversifying light sources
  • Deciding what you want to eat or drink before opening the refrigerator door
  • Stop switching on the TV just for "background music" in your room
  • Driving less and taking public transport

...and many more!

Playing with smartphone QR codes

To help make Earth Hour interaction more fun, we have printed QR codes on all our advertising materials including our posters. A quick scan using your smartphone will take you to the Earth Hour registration page. After signing up to support us, a Chocolate Rain x Earth Hour mobile wallpaper will be available for download — absolutely free — and the event will be marked on your calendar. That way you definitely won't forget to switch off!
